Hi, we’re Adam and Paulina.
We are artists, entrepreneurs, a married couple, and parents of two wonderful children.
Years ago, we lived in a small apartment. As creatives, we constantly felt the need for more space — space to work, to create, and to dream.
Then, almost miraculously, we found an old house that was falling apart.
We had no savings and no clear plan for how we would restore it. The roof leaked, the floors were damaged, and many people believed it would be easier to walk away than to begin.
Yet something about the house spoke to us.
So we took the risk.
What followed was not a renovation, but a seven-year journey.
Little by little, resources appeared. Family members offered their help. Friends joined in. Later, a professional construction company helped us with the structural work, while we focused on the design, details, and countless finishing touches that slowly transformed the house into a home.
When we first moved in, the ground floor had no doors, no window sills, and barely any furniture.
Over time, the garage became a recording studio. Upstairs, an artist’s atelier and a fashion workshop took shape. We restored room after room, created a garden for gathering, and transformed the cellar into a small wine room.
The final piece of the reconstruction — the upstairs bathroom — was completed nearly seven years after we purchased the property.
Only then did we feel that the house was finally finished.
Or so we thought.
Looking for the true purpose of the house
Shortly after moving in, we began to feel that The House Under the Bell was larger than our family alone needed.
The house seemed to be asking for something more.
So we started opening it to others.
We hosted open studio days, Neapolitan pizza evenings in the garden, creative retreats for singers, recording sessions, workshops, barbecues, and gatherings that brought together people of different generations and backgrounds.
Photographers, musicians, families, artists, entrepreneurs, and friends all passed through these spaces.
The house became a place of encounters.
Yet despite everything, we still felt that we had not fully discovered its true purpose.
For years, we searched for its identity.
We moved rooms around, changed their functions, experimented with ideas, and tried to understand what this place wanted to become.
The house we couldn’t sell
Eventually, we became frustrated.
We felt stuck and uncertain about the future.
For more than two years, we repeatedly tried to sell the house.
At one point, we completely emptied it of our personal belongings and left for a period abroad. The house stood ready for potential buyers.
Then something unexpected happened.
Just before another viewing was scheduled, an old friend reached out and asked a simple question:
„Would you ever consider sharing the house through Airbnb?“
We had nothing to lose.
So we said yes.
We redesigned the spaces once again, creating more room for gathering, more comfort, and greater accommodation capacity.
Two days after posting the first announcement online, we received an inquiry from guests traveling from the United States.
They wanted to stay for six weeks.
To us, it felt like a sign.
For the first time, everything suddenly made sense.
And now you’re here.
Perhaps you’re simply looking for a place to stay.
Or perhaps, like us, you believe that certain places appear in our lives at exactly the right moment.
If so, we would be honored to welcome you to Under the Bell and invite you to become part of its next chapter.
