THE HOUSE

More than a century of stories

The House Under the Bell stands in the oldest part of Svibice, a historic village that remained independent until it became part of Český Těšín in 1947.

The first written records of Svibice date back to the 15th century.

For centuries, it was a farming community built around the Church of Saint Hedwig and the stream that still flows not far from the house.

At the turn of the twentieth century, the village experienced a remarkable period of growth. Schools, inns, associations, and businesses emerged. Czech, Polish, German, and the local Silesian dialect could all be heard in its streets.

One of the most influential local figures was Franciszek Górniak, founder of one of the most important brickworks in the region.

Many of the houses, schools, and farm buildings surrounding us today were built using bricks produced just a short distance from here.

Some of those original bricks and roof tiles can still be found today.

A house shaped by time

The house itself dates back to the late nineteenth century and has witnessed more than a hundred years of human stories.

We purchased it in 2018.

Moved in during 2019.

Completed its restoration in 2026.

And in 2027, for the first time in its history, opened it to guests.

A place that kept its character

One of the things we love most about this part of Svibice is how much of its original character remains.

Old gardens.

Stone walls.

Traditional houses.

Quiet lanes.

Places that have survived decades of change while holding onto their identity.

Perhaps that is why this place feels different.

It is the result of countless stories that unfolded here long before we arrived.

And for a short time, it becomes part of yours as well.
